PERSONALITY DISORDERS & TRAUMA THERAPY
ONLINE SESSIONS FOR CLIENTS IN IDAHO, ARIZONA, TEXAS AND FLORIDAAn intelligent approach for intelligent people.
Outwardly accomplished, but inwardly fearful, flooded or fragmented.
IS THIS YOU?
Do you keep finding yourself in the same damaging fight, or dark emotional place? Do you feel that you’re smart, but dismayed that you have not been able to figure this out? Have you been to therapy before, and now feel skeptical of coping tools, clever reframes and insight? Do you long for something, or someone, to finally help you get rid you of this suffering? If this is you, I may be able to help.
WHAT I TREAT:
Personality Disorders & Trauma
I treat the problems that result from childhood adaptations that now create difficulties for you. Whether the reason for your struggles are from severe childhood trauma or genetic origins, chronic stressors and poor fit to environment will interfere with healthy personality development. My treatment approach is based not on clinical intuition or anecdotal evidence, but the scientific data that supports neurological correctives and memory reconsolidation.
HOW I WORK:
Memory Reconsolidation
Most problems in therapy (although not all) are a result of the memories we form around significant life experiences and their emotional learning. Our best evidence for the kind of therapeutic change that does not resurface, is the science of memory reconsolidation. That is why I work primarily with the contribution of Dr Bruce Ecker and the neurological mechanism he brought over from the field of neuroscience into psychotherapy. This mechanism can be used in any therapy modality, and I use the modality of Coherence Therapy because it is simple and bypasses a lot of the jargon and protocol of other modalities.
Neurological Corrective
A personality disorder does not stem from significant life events and their emotional learning, nor is it based in adverse childhood experiences (despite what our field has made you believe). Our best research shows that personality disorders are neurological conditions that are inherited, and therefor his should be the target of treatment. Therapy should therefore target the deficits not found in healthy personalities. There is no singular modality for this condition, but an integrated model can draw on a number of theories, such as DBT, mentalization-based therapy and relationship management, in order to install neurological correctives.
Working together is simple.
